Steps to Relocate

by Bill Hayward

  1. Find a reputable Realtor: A reputable realtor is the key enjoying a seamless real estate transaction. A professional agent is one who will listen to you and understand your needs along with knowing the market.

  2. Engage a local lender:  Understanding what you are comfortable with from an affordability standpoint will streamline your search and save a great deal of time and headache. Discuss your financial situation with a reputable lender and get pre-approved for a loan.

  3. The New Employer: Discuss any corporate relocation assistance programs with your new/future employer during the interview process.  Financial help to relocate may be an option, and many companies offer this to their candidates.

  4. Learn the Area: Your realtor should be a solid resource for information in a specific area. It is their job to provide you with many choices, so you can make an educated decision. Your realtor’s job is to guide, not push!

  5. Find a Moving Company: Make sure that you do your homework! An experienced mover can help you to settle into your new city asap! Your realtor should also be a great resource for movers.
